From changing bulbs to total engine rebuilds, at Evans Motors we have your back when it comes to keeping your vehicle on the road. 

With a rate of £65 an hour for our work, we are one of the cheaper garages in the area, but we certainly don’t scrimp when it comes to the quality of service we provide. 

We make no charge for diagnostic work and our straight-talking approach means you will have a clear idea of what is wrong with your vehicle and how much it will cost to put it right before we begin any repairs. 

Below is more information about the variety of services we provide. However, if you can’t spot what you are looking for on the list, do give us a call. If we can’t help, we may be able to recommend someone who can. 

Interim services 

£145.00 + VAT - every 6 months 

For the light car user, people doing less than 8000 miles per year. Includes oil and air filter, oil change and full visual inspection of vehicle 

Annual Service

£195 + VAT - Every Year 

Ideal for people doing between 8000 to 12,000 miles per annum, and ideally done every year. This service includes oil and air filter, full oil change (specialist oil will incur an additional premium), spark plugs (as necessary) fuel filter and full visual inspection of vehicle 

Major Service 

£225.00 +VAT - Every 2 years 

Perfect for high mileage vehicles. This service includes oil and air filter, full oil change (specialist oil will incur an additional premium), spark plugs (as necessary) fuel filter, Pollen filter and full visual inspection of vehicle 

Diagnostic tests 

Unlike many other garages we won't charge you to diagnose what’s wrong with your vehicle. Using a diagnostic computer, we can quickly determine what is causing the problem and can then talk through how we can fix it so you can make an informed decision. Whether or not you are experiencing issues with your car it can be helpful to have a diagnostic test at least once a year, as this can reveal any underlying issues before they become a problem. 

Warranty work 

We are happy to liaise with your warranty company when you need work carried out on your vehicle. 

Full engine rebuilds or replacement, gearboxes and more 

We are prepared to take on the big jobs unlike many garages. Give us a call to talk through your needs. 

MOTs

We offer independent MOTs 

We also offer a pre-MOT check for free to pick up any issues before your test. 

Clutches

Trouble changing gears or noticing a juddering feeling when you do? It could be a problem with your clutch. 

Cambelt

It’s best to get cambelt problems checked out as soon as possible as if left, a worn or broken cambelt can require major repairs. 

Light bulb change 

There’s nothing more annoying than noticing one of your bulbs has blown but you can't work out how to get to it to change it! Don’t worry, we can help. 

Battery replacement 

Although car batteries are rechargeable, they don't last forever and usually have a life of about three to five years. We can check your battery and replace it if need be. We can also check that your alternator is charging your battery properly too. 

Air conditioning repairs 

If the cold setting on your air con starts to let out warm air it's usually a sign that your air con needs to be regassed. If you notice this happening, it’s worth getting it checked out so it’s in good working order for when you really need it. 

Wheel alignment

If you notice that your vehicle pulls slightly to one side it could be a sign that your wheels need to be realigned. Problems with alignment are commonly caused by worn out parts or bumping a curb.

Car collection 

If you live in the Colchester area but can’t get your vehicle to us for one reason or another, give us a call and we will try to arrange collection and return free of charge. Please help us reserve this service for our vulnerable customers. We also have a recovery service if your vehicle has broken down.
